Recipes using Freeze Dried Fruit

I'm not at all familiar with this, but I was thinking that it should be possible to grind up freeze dried fruit (like TJ's sells) into a powder and use that powder to flavor chocolate or caramel or buttercream without altering the texture too much. Has anyone tried this, does it work at all, and how much powder would you use? My Google-fu is failing me today and I'm coming up with squat when I try to search.
