During the holidays, I made a batch of the obligatory press cookies. I have my Mom's antique-ish aluminum press made by Mirro 60 or 70 years ago with a screw-like press (as opposed to the more modern, lever-like presses).
Anyway, I have been using the Joy of Cooking's recipe (with granulated sugar) and when I shipped my Mom the cookies, she expressed how heavy they were (which is true) and asked if I used the old Mirro recipe with powdered sugar. I had an immediate flashback to my childhood in remembering that and realizing my cookies were never as good as I remembered.
Does anyone have that old recipe where the press (or Spritz) cookies are based on powdered sugar?
