Recipe for apricot almond jam?

My apricot tree is prolific and I'm going to can some and make some into preserves. I see a number of French recipes that use the seed inside the apricot pit to impart a bitter almond flavor (although the seed in quantity appears to be toxic).

Have you tried this technique? Any suggestions?
