Need help - reasonable, with street parking???

Sylvia G | Feb 29, 2004 10:18 AM

We would like to find an inexpensive/moderate French bistro or Italian trattoria (or American) for an early dinner (5:30)on Saturday night after the opera.

Here's the tough part: we will be driving, and like to take our car out of the Met parking garage, which is very expensive for extra time.

We need somewhere where we can find street parking!

In the past, we have had good dinners at Bistro du Nord and Pascalou, both on Madison Ave in the 90's, Luca (UPS 80's), Capsouto Freres (near Canal St.) and Via Emilia, on Park Ave. South. These all have street parking available.
We like these places, but would like to try something different. We are not looking for Asian or Indian this time.

There are many good places I read about that we would like to try, but street parking is important, which rules out the UWS or downtown.

Thanks for any help!

(Please don't say don't drive - we have one person who can't walk well and take trains.)
