*Real* Italian restaurant in the D.C. area?

I Dig Italian | Apr 10, 2002 10:12 AM

Because I lived in Italy, I have extremely discerning taste when it comes to Italian food. I saw the commercial for Da Domenico and was so excited to dine there. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! It was worse than The Olive Garden. I couldn't believe it. I got linguine with a creamy seafood sauce. My pasta was SWIMMING in the looked like soup!

Can someone please, please advise me on restaurants in the D.C. area that serve REAL Italian food? I'm talking *truly* al dente pasta, very thin-crusted pizza with sparse cheese, delicate sauces, simple panini, cooked vegetables tossed with olive oil and lemon, etc.

I am SO tired of Italian-American food. Does a real Italian restaurant exist in our area? Please e-mail me if you know of any...
