"Real" Chinese and Asian Food

BostonFoodie617 | Jun 6, 2017 06:47 AM

I was reading through some posts about ordering "real" Chinese food, there being a separate menu, etc. I'd like to go to a restaurant that would be open to me trying out some authentic Chinese dishes. While I consider myself pretty adventurous, I think by "chowhound" standards, I'm somewhere in the middle. I like flavor variety and I love spice, but I wouldn't eat fish eyes or bug larve, for example... Just too far beyond my palate. I would love to try some vegetables that I've never had, though, and even different ways of preparing tofu and meat, meat with bones, different cuts of meat and fish, etc.

Anyway, I want to have an adventure with a friend who is also adventurous. I'd also be up for doing this with a Korean, Thai, Taiwanese, or other Asian food. Do you chowhounds have an suggestions for where to go North of Boston/Southern NH for this? I know the food court in H-Mart in Burlington had some interesting stuff we could try that wasn't "common" on American Chinese menu's (the kimchee pancake was great, as was whatever hotpot I ordered), and that was fun. I recently tried the soup at Pho 88 in Lowell with tripe, beef tendon, etc., and I didn't love it but was glad to have ordered it.

Where can I go for a food adventure that's not too expensive and they will be helpful with the menu? Thanks in advance!
