Raging Fork Austin

I played the Laguna Gloria re-opening, where food and wine were freely dispensed from all the usual sources in Austin. (I play with Mr Fabulous.) The one thing that bowled me over was the rice/pinenut dish with salmon offered by the Roaring Fork, the restaurant at the Steven Austin Hotel downtown. I learned that the bar menu of $6 entrees for happy hour is going to be extended through the winter. This is a great deal!

We went Sunday night. Jan had the pulled pork sandwich and i went for a stewed pork in green sauce. We've also had at other times the burger, the half chicken, and a couple other things that skip my mind. ALL these items are 6 bucks. The service is very good, the tables overlook Congress Ave's eclectic pedestrian scene.

They're obviously trying to lure folks into the dining room, but you may find--like we did--that this is plenty! Call ahead to get the hapy hour schedule. Try one of the Huckleberry Margaritas while you're there, too!

Until next time, the battle cry:

Trader Joes in Austin!
