Raffles Cafe, Fremont -2nd visit

Arlene | Jan 11, 200401:47 AM

I liked Raffles Cafe so much I'd decided to let Ben try it. Windy was able to meet us there too.

We ordered from their menu seven items:
#16. Roti Prata-$2.95 Very tasty though it is pretty oily

#19. Popiah-$5.95 We got 3 rolls though the menu says 2 fresh rolls made w/ special shrimp paste, prawn, egg, pork shreds, cooked veggie. I didn't care for it-very bland to me. I used various sauces to add flavor to it.

#34. Hainanese Chicken $8.95 Very tasty-order was just right for 3 people, no leftovers.

#48. Clay pot eggplant w/ salted fish $8.95-stir-fried eggplant w/ salted fish, minced pork & mushroom. I thought it was ok, Ben really liked it.

$52. Wanted the fish head curry, $12.95 but now I think they use seabass instead of the fish head. It was Good. Lots of seabass in a wonderful curry sauce-we asked for it spicy. I didn't think it was very spicy though.

#68. nasi lemak $7.95. fragrant coconut rice served w/ tomato, sambal chili, fried anchovy, peanut, hard-boiled egg & chef's special curry chicken $7.95. I liked the dish very much-lots of texture, nice sauce.

G7. Char Kway $7.95 Singapore favorite carrot cake 'Chai Tau Kway' fried to perfection w/ egg & scallions in special sauce White (salty) It's my favorite dish, we ordered it on the chowdown and I just had to go back for it!

free sticky colorful desserts-new was the pink/white striped ones made of sticky rice. Very tasty.

with tip and tax dinner was $70 total.
