Radha (vegetarian on the LES) -- longish

There are frequent postings looking for vegetarian choices, so here's a quick review of Radha, a new-ish, mostly vegan & Indian place on Ludlow St., where I ate last night:

The room has a soothing ambiance, with red accents and lights covered with hanging beads. If you don't like Hindi-Sanskrit chanting and music as your soundtrack, this isn't the place for you. I felt like I should start doing downward dogs -- but at the same time I found it part of the relaxing atmosphere.

The food's emphasis is on Indian dishes, but has a hodgepodge of menu items, like veggie burgers and teriyaki tofu. My house salad was fresh, with a mild almond dressing. The samosas (2 to an order) were very good, with flaky crust and well-spiced filling.

My fiance got the thali, which comes with tasty poori bread, and our friend ordered the teriyaki soychicken, which he also enjoyed.

We were the only diners when we arrived, with another table coming in toward the end of our meal. The waitress told us Sundays there are particularly slow.

It's a completely different vibe and cuisine than the late Heirloom around the corner, but for my money, a better all-vegetarian choice.
