quiet places w. of La Brea?

dana | Feb 5, 2005 05:07 PM

After a very noisy evening at Cobras and M. on Beverly, am searching for ideas of quiet places -- places that are less spectacles than good food where one can actually talk with friends. I am hard of hearing but even if I wasn't I am tired of places where one has to shout through the meal and emerge into the street disoriented and exhausted. I'd love to assemble a list of good ideas -- in all genres of food and in many neighborhoods from mid-Wilshire to SM. I'm looking for places where one can meet with friends and catch up on news.

For what it's worth, here are some places that I've found that DO NOT work (i.e., are often super-noisy): 2117, Border Grill, Beacon, Monsoon.

Thanks!
