Quick Venice 1-day trip report WARNING ON AI ARTISTI

Belkisw | Jun 4, 201810:06 AM     1

I was just in Venice for the day. Had fantastic snacks for lunch at Osteria al Portego, but wish we had had the time to book and get one of the six tables at the back for the restaurant menu, the food was really fabulous looking. The website has the wrong hours up- you can start snacking at the bar at 11:30, and then the kitchen opens at 12. We had our dessert gelato at Suso- some of the best sweet/salty combo flavors I have ever had. And the Sepa- lemon, dark bitter chocolate and a crema- outstanding! For dinner, having read all the great reviews on Chowhound I booked Ai Artisti. Big mistake. When we sat down and received our menus, I mentioned how the chef was Japanese, and the waiter explained that no, no longer. I then googled only to find that the chef left to open his own place in April. So we were stuck at Ai Artisti and ate a second rate meal, on our one night in Venice :( The food really was nothing to write home about.
