Quick Santa Barbara trip review

pioneer | Sep 12, 201510:44 PM     1

We came for four days; on the Urban Wine Trail we visited- Au Bon Climat, Kunin Winery, The Valley Project. We bought wine at Kunin and Au Bon Climat. The wine at Au bon Climat was so good that we joined the club and purchased several cases to be shipped home.

For breakfast we went to Sambo and Dawn Patrol-good food and service.
Lunch Santa Barbara Shellfish Company on the pier, excellent oysters, scallop ceviche and dungeness crab cocktail. Santa Barbara Fish House, simple mussels in marina sauce with bacon/pork and more oysters.

Dinner was Barbareno, we had the chef's selection for the app and split the tri-tip. Service was great, wine was good and the food tasted delish.

Second dinner was Julienne, we did the three course tasting menu with wine pairing. Best part along with service and excellent food was that we both received different courses allowing us to sample even more dishes. (Oxtail dumplings, sardines etc)

Third dinner should have been Petit Valantien. We had reservations; we showed up ten minutes early and there was a sign on door saying that due to family vacation there would be not Ethoipian lunch service. Not an issue for us since we were coming for dinner. However, the staff seemed frazzled and perhaps understaffed. We were seated and waited for service, two walk in parties were seated after us and given menus and attention from waiter. We left. We went to Milk N Honey which is a tapas place. The cocktails, service and food were excellent. (chef selection of cheese and picks, then the pork shoulder)
