On several occasions at Costco, I've seen large packages of meat (pork roast, beef tenderloin, etc.) that comes wrapped in heavy duty plastic bags (cryovac). Its usually a darker colour than regular meat (ie., purple rather than red/pink colour). Its usually pretty cheap too.

Is there anything wrong with the meat? Is it any better or worse than fresh, red meat?

The size and price tempts me to purchase for large gatherings but just wondering if anyone has eaten this kind of meat?
