This past summer I visited Sydney, Australia and for the first time experienced a 'doner kebab'. I have never heard of this arrangement of food before so I decided to give it a shot.
It was EXCELLENT! The one thing is, I haven't seen anything close to what it was here in the states.
The place that I went to was run by Turks so I'm guessing the "spit-roasted doner kebab" may be along the lines of what I would look for here.
Basically it was a large tortilla or gyro type bread, the shop had beef and chicken 'posts' of meat (not sure what they are called, they slowly turn with a cooker behind it).
I had it with chicken, lettuce, pineapple, and bbq sauce; after wrapping it all up they threw it on a toaster type device to warm it all up and then serve it. It was excellent!
Can anybody direct me to what I'm looking for...?
