Queens to Brooklyn, where do I want to go?

Never really have had the opportunity to explore Brooklyn very much but would like to try to hit a few different neighborhoods and at the same time have a relaxing lunch for 2 while our toddler is with sitter....would like to try to go to one area in Brooklyn every week or two. Went for the first time in ages to Williamsburg to pick something up from Mini Jakes an excellent baby store--and couldn't believe all the changes. Having heard about them, but not really seen all the places that had sprung up. I popped quickly into a coffee place that didn't have a sign up yet, something Le Beit? I think...it was next door to a little bakery with parfaits and cupcakes, on Bedford I think..little place, --nice guy there made me the best iced coffee ever for $2, freshly ground in a one cup clover machine...gotta go back there...

It kinda felt like areas on the outskirts of Cambridge, Mass to me. Anyway........I've checked out alot of the posts for Williamsburg eats---and of course, having never been to Difara's, would like to make it there eventually. But for right now, would like to be able to find some inexpensive but pleasant atmosphere places for lunch and maybe a bit of shopping around..could be interesting food shopping, or just boutique shopping...please help me out with the best areas to hit..where do i want to eat in Williamsburg, Park Slope, Bensonhurst, Red Hook, etc.....what the not miss places but that are inexpensive I'd want to go to. Open to all cuisines, except Japanese, (husband doesn't like)

Any parking tips, etc appreciated. If you want to head this way to Queens, I'll help you out with the best bets in all the areas not to be missed... Thanks Brooklynites!
