Puzzling Carbohydrate Count

Candy | Feb 1, 2004 01:08 PM

I bought Juanita's Mexican Style Hominy the other day and the info on the can says that that in a half cup serving that there are 10 g. carbohydrates and 6 g. of fiber. Most other brands (American) weigh in at somewhere between 17 and 27 g. carbohydrate in a half cup and 3-4 g. fiber. I'm thinking that it must be the type of corn used but does anyone know for sure? I'm guessing it must be field corn lower sugars but why the fiber difference?
