The Purple Pub - Williamstown, MA

My SO and I took our daughters to a rainy afternoon at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown. Our intention was to end the afternoon with an early dinner at The Purple Pub. We had heard we could get a good burger and great beer. When we got to the PP, we had to seat ourselves and it was a little while before any body came over. Immediately things started downhill, they were out of 3 of the 10 beers on tap with no replacement. The waters we asked for, which are usually brought to a table without asking, didn't arrive until we reminded our waiter. The girls got the homemade chicken tenders, which were the actual tenders, and they were decent. The grilled cheese sandwich my youngest had was very good and the fries were some of the best I've had in a while. My wife and I started out with the appetizer sampler, the wings were ok, the calamari was rubbery and unmemorable, the onion rings, IMO, were NOT homemade and the marinara was bland and very under seasoned. My SO had a burger, medium, with avocado and cheddar and sprouts. There were two very thin slices of avocado, barely a slice of cheese and the sprouts were soggy. The meat was unseasoned, and although it was cooked to a perfect medium, was dry, dry, dry. My burger came with bacon, cheddar and sauteed onions. I found the same problems with my burger. The meat was unseasoned though cooked well, there was one slice of bacon cut in half and barely a slice of cheese. Although there was only about a tablespoon and a half of onions on my burger, it was the best part of my meal. The meat must be so lean there is no fat left to cook with, my burger was dry. The brioche rolls that the burgers were served on were dry and crumbly. The "fixings" (onion, tomato, lettuce) that came on the side were obviously remnants of a previous meal time. We were quite disappointed in our experience and probably won't be back.
