I'm on a diet which I would Rather Not Name. Usually in the Canadian winter I subsist on a variety of thrown-together soups, all pureed and potato-based. Since I can't eat potatos - or winter squash or parsnips, carrots are okay - I'm looking for alternate recipes. I've seen a recipe somewhere with pureed barley but can't remember where (and had my doubts anyway). I've also had a delicious, thick hot-pepper soup which I believe only had tomatos and leeks to thicken it.
