Went to Pupusa Guanaca on Friday....the pupusas were some of the best I have ever had, definitely better (cheesier and bigger) than Tacos Lupita, a bit better than Tapatio in E. Somerville as well.....I like that the pupusas at PG are cheese and bean (not just cheese). I also tried the pork ones which I didn't like as much as the plain cheese and bean. The cabbage is more vinagreey than others i've had, very good.
Also had the tacos, which were disappointing. They were rolled up and deep fried, crunchy and not bad tasting but not what I think of when I think 'taco'....maybe this is a more Salvadoran style though...nothing like Tacos Lupita which are Mexican and possibly the best in Boston...
Tried the empanada de platano, which had a crust made of sweet plantain and a filling of condensed milk, cinnamon and clove which was delicious. The filling tasted a lot like rice pudding, but had a bit too much clove for me. Still, definitely worth a try. It was steaming hot and straight from the fryer :)
Finally we also had one tamale, which was very very good although it could have had more chicken.
Overall, this place is super friendly and quite a bargain, i'll be back for more pupusas as the winter months approach....
