Punjabi Dhaba: I don't know...

Question for the group...

Punjabi Dhaba is one of my favorites, boosted by the fact that it is cheap, close by and a favorite of so many. But I’m not so sure they get the orders right.

I’m always stuck. I always order something new that I’m not to sure how it will turn out or look. I always order take out so I don’t really check out the “new orders” until I get home and I’ve come to accept the crazy, poor service as a cost of ordering from Punjabi (significance being that it would be too much trouble, if not rude, in the crowded shop to open up each order and check if they have it right). Anyway, the idea is to experiment, no? I like new things.

But, i’ve had a suspicion that they have gotten our order wrong a couple times…but again, it isn’t worth the trouble to go back and get it corrected.

On Saturday I ordered vegetable biryani as an alternative to all the meat dishes we ordered. On the menu it states that it includes nuts and raisin etc., traditional ingredients in biryani. When I lived in Asia, biryani, even vegetable biryani has nuts and raisin. But when we got home and opened our take out order all it really ending up being was vegetable fried rice. No spices, no raisins, no nuts?

What gives? Is this unrealistic expectations of mine or are is the shop slacking? Maybe I’m wrong? I though this place was great because it wasn’t “Americanized.” Not sure about that anymore. Can some one set me straight?
