Pumpkin Trouble

Whinerdiner | Sep 6, 2011 12:10 PM

This past spring, when the snow finally melted, we found a bunch of leftover Halloween pumpkins from last year still in the front garden. I had assumed some animal would have made a meal of them. Instead of getting rid of them, I wanted to see what would happen if I planted the seeds.

So I turned over the dirt, planted the seeds, and waited. Sure enough, I think every seed sprouted. We now have tons of pumpkin vines and big yellow flowers. The flowers keep falling off though. I thought the flowers would lead to pumpkins. Please forgive my ignorance, I realize these are stupid questions.

It's now September, and I don't see anything but huge yellow flowers. Is this normal? Will I ever get pumpkins, or have I made some mistake?

Thanks in advance.
