I'm embarrassed to admit that it took me a whole YEAR to discover that a Produce World store had opened at Lawrence and Cumberland [near my home]. Aside from Italian and Polish delis, the area isn't a great place to buy groceries. The produce at Dominick's & Jewel looks more tired every day. Produce World today had a very fine variety of fruits & veggies at reasonable prices. Four different kinds of eggplant. Four different kinds of cucumber. 12 feet or so of greens, including several colors of chard. 6 or more different varieties of potatoes, all loose [so I can channel the spirit of my grandmother and pick thru them...I HATE buying pre-packaged produce]. A big deli counter that had maybe 8 different kinds of olives...including pitted Kalamatas. A big island of cheese & sausages, including packaged goodies from Bobak's. A nice cross section of foods for different cuisines...not one of those "european" stores that's really a Polish grocery....not to slight the wonderful Wally's. A very nice & needed addition to the far Northwest side.
