By process of elimination I shall find good food in Simi Valley...

...and during my brief Thanksgiving stop I elimated two possibilities:

Eggs N Things, in the Target/Trader Joe's shopping center on Cochran, has been recommended to me by locals. Everything there was fair: BLTA with terrible industrially formed "fries," southwestern chicken salad, and eggs with corned beef hash (might as well stay home with a can of Hormel). We're talking a micro version of Denny's here.

Fuji Sushi, very close to Eggs N Things but closer to Mervyns, was terrible. I asked the sushi chef for recommendations on what was good that night, and the response was a dismissive "everything is good." Translation: "if you want good sushi you shouldn't be here." We tried a few sample nigiri (maguro, hamachi, unagi) and they were so horrible that we ordered cooked items instead. The tempura was covered in too much undercooked batter, and the tempura was sticky sweet. The only passable item was the gyoza.

So both should be avoided. I noticed a few grungy taquerias that I'm going to try on my next visit.
