Prix Fixe means Poor Food?

JB | Dec 29, 2004 07:40 PM

I'll be in NY next week and would like to visit more than one of the gastronomic Mecca's, but my current finances are a bit limited. The proliferation of prix fixe lunch and dinner menus is enticing (Aureole, Bouley, dbBistro, etc) - but am I setting myself up for disappointment? Do you really get the same experience, and quality of food?

I certainly expect limited choice and lesser quantity, but if I'll be treated as a leper I'd just as soon stick with smaller neighborhood joints...
