Yesterday I had lunch at Le Cirque (I hadn't been there since they moved to the Bloomberg Building) and was pleasantly surprised by their affordable yet scrumptious $42 prix fixe menu. I frequently select from the prix fixe at the Four Seasons, but I wanted to try another New York classic, so I headed to Le Cirque.
I started with the King Crab appetizer that was light and refreshing and had hints of citrus and caviar. I then chose the branzino, which was an excellent choice - light and grilled to perfection. Whoever still believes that all French food is heavy and butter-saturated clearly hasn't sampled some of the dishes at Le Cirque!
Last but definitely not least, I decided to indulge and sampled a few of the mini desserts. I had an absolutely delicious poached pear sabayon as well as a cute, mini tower-like dessert filled with cream and cherry compote.
Everything was fantastic. Our server was friendly and very attentive, and I can't wait to go back for another prix fixe next time with a group of friends!
