Primo's Donuts & Tacos Por Favor & Bel Air Hotel & Apple Pan & Pacific Diner

In the span of 24 hours, my wife and I managed to visit each one of those places and, miraculously, not feel so stuffed. There's nothing quite like going to a lot of restaurants to feel sinful and happy!

Primo's -- what can I say that hasn't been said? Dreamy. Tie for first place between buttermilk & crumb.

Tacos Por Favor in Santa Monica was as awesome as billed. We split our order amongst soft, hard tacos & sopes. "Fried Fish" was crunchy and almost buttery in taste; perfect. Sauteed mushrooms, grilled vegetables, potatoes, Grilled Mahi Mahi -- all superb. Couldn't help contrasting with Wahoo's...and boy did Wahoo's come out at the short end of the stick.

Bel Air Hotel -- no where else does $4.50 for coffee and $9 for a gin and tonic seem like a bargain but at the Bel Air bar. We parked here longer than we stay at most restaurants...and the coffee was damn good. (Even had soy milk...)

Apple Pan -- I don't want to start no fights, but we just can't understand how one cannot like this place. Sure, maybe there's better places, but having the apple pan -- crunchy burgers, crusty waiters -- at Westwood & Pico would be like having live dinosaurs at La Brea & Wilshire.

Pacific Diner -- apparantly, a San Pedro institution I discovered doing some research for another poster last week. Snappy, sassy service in a location 4 blocks from the beach/marina. The food would have to be awful bad for us not to return to such a great atmosphere, and, of course, it is quite good. Nothing exceptional, just very solid omelettes...
