price point of mid level chains? ie Olive Garden

fara | Nov 15, 201404:06 AM     5

hubby had a veterans day discount of a free meal at many chains and we chose Olive garden. we both ordered salad and breadsticks plus 2 entrees for 3 of us (including small child). my entree of Alfredo with seafood was $17... we could have gone to a fine dining restaurant for that entree price. how exactly are these restaurants surviving with, let's say less innovative, less healthy, and poorer quality food for the same prices as more upscale restaurants ? and by less healthy I mean the artificial bacon bits in dhs entree with other various off chemicals and my seafood of interesting texture. don't get me wrong, it was fine for once a year and I enjoyed my salad and
cheesy bread, as well as the alfredo, just doesn't seem like the price point is appropriate.
