pre- or post-Valentine's Day dinner

My husband and I usually have our Valentine's Day dinner near, but not on, Valentine's Day, to avoid the overpriced specials and the crowds.

This year, we were going to go out on Tuesday, two days after Valentine's Day. I figured that Saturday would be nearly as crowded as Sunday, and it looks like a lot of restaurants are having their specials and prix fixe menus all weekend. Am I right that Monday is the night that many chefs take off, leaving their back-ups in the kitchen?

If we go on Monday or Tuesday, we'd like to go somewhere where we won't hit tons of traffic coming from Arlington. I had thought of Oyamel or Tallula, or possibly Palena (not sure about the traffic). It doesn't have to be a supremely fancy place, but somewhere with a little atmosphere, and nicer than we would go to with our pre-K moderately fussy eater. We've been to the Village Bistro many times before, or I'd choose that.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!!
