potato gnocchi Sorrentino recipe search

dfrostnh | Oct 3, 201507:23 AM     11

On a long road trip thru rural NY state we stopped at a small, local Italian restaurant which looked like a typical strip mall pizza place. They also served some pasta dishes so two of us ordered potato gnocchi Sorrentino. It was delicious. My friend pronounced it better than anything she has had in Boston's North End. Although I have fresh basil and Roma tomatoes, none of the recipes I find on the internet are similar. The sauce for this was "clear" yellow. My friend thought it was a combination of broth and EVO. There must have been additional seasoning besides the fresh basil leaves because I could see specks in the bottom of the bowl. We got a refill of wonderful rolls so I could sop up as much of the sauce as I could. Does anyone have a Sorrentino style sauce recipe like this? Usually we don't go to Italian restaurants because they just have red sauce dishes and I haven't been interested in collecting Italian cookbooks. Please Help!
