Pot Roast Question

I want to divide a loaf-shaped 5 lb. pot roast in half. Would it be better to make 2 "cubes" or cut it horizontally to make 2 flattish "steaks" ? Both will be made into pot roasts, but I want to freeze half for later. Will the shape matter if tenderness is main concern?
