Post Marathon- Dinner Party (Leg of Lamb)

edbk | Oct 28, 2011 10:53 AM

I am hosting a post marathon party for my brother in law (who is running). He said not to worry about marathon related foods so I won't- but want to make it a special dinner. Being half greek, I want to greek it up a little bit without having it be too greek (does that make sense :))

There will be about 10 people

I was thinking of doing a nice chese plate with cured meets and crackers/olives just to have something to munch on when folks arrive. They will arrive aroun 4:30 and we will eat by 6:00. Is just cheese enough or should I do more hor- durves or something different. I have done just gourges before but with the big group I thought something platterish would be better so I thought of the cheese

For dinner:
Leg of Lamb (garlic, herb type of rub, nothingto fancy though)
Roasted Potatoes (any specific type better, I assume cooking times differ and I want them to cook with the lamb to get that great flavor
Pan Sauce for Lamb
Not 100% sure of the vegetable, its fall though so maybe a fall one. If not maybe string beans. Could use help/advice on the veggie

Dessert? I usually do whiskey with coffee and just put out ice cream or fruit and chocoalte but with such a large group I was thinking either some kind of cake or even a pumpkin pie. Any suggestions?

I want flavors to go together and I want everythingto taste good- with more of a focus on quality of ingredients and simpleness than fanciness. But at the end of the day we are all pretty fancy people :) who don't shy away from gourmet. I just don't want to try to hard and sacrifice quality and freshness

That was long! Any advice would be great!
