My boyfriend returns from a trip Saturday at 10am and I'd like to take him directly from LAX to brunch/early lunch before taking him home to Redondo Beach. Somewhere between Venice (Abbott Kinney) and Palos Verdes and near the coast.
We prefer made-to-order food that is farmer's market driven, a menu that has gluten- and grain-free options, and a nice atmosphere where we can catch up and reconnect. Prefer someplace slightly relaxing and chill rather than crazy/frenetic/super loud. Absolutely don't want any kind of $50 all-you-can-eat expensive buffet extravaganza (those are usually more of a Sunday thing, though, I think?) that is all inclusive as I have food restrictions and a smaller appetite and can't eat $50 worth of food. Also, we are lightweights when it comes to alcohol so a place that is pushing unlimited mimosas but doesn't have good food wouldn't be a good choice.

*Gjelina (love it--boyfriend has never been there before)
Tasting Kitchen (never been)
Joe's (haven't been in 4 years but used to enjoy it)
Cafe del Rey (only been for dinner or HH, how is their brunch?)
Strand House (went once, I don't remember it)
MB Post (never been before)
Mar'sel at Terranea (never been)
* I can manage to find menu items at Gjelina that I are gluten- and grain-free even though they don't allow substitutions/changes.
Also open to other places not on the list.
Not super familiar with good eats in the South Bay as I live in Brentwood, so advice from CHers who know the area well is greatly appreciated.
