I only post about Bay Ridge restaurants

I can't seem to leave the neighborhood to report on anything north of 65th street, so you're forced to read yet another update on Bay-fucking-Ridge.

The fried chicken place (called, I think Chicken-U-More) on 3rd Ave. just above Ovington has installed a pizza oven to the right of the front door, and appears to be baking large Middle Eastern flat breads with various toppings to order. The menu is all in Arabic script, and I didn't stop in. Has anyone given these folks a try?

I was returning from Bangkok Thai, a few blocks further toward Sunset Park. I hit the place regularly for the standard honky Thai dishes, though the specials seem to grow more ambitious and non-western with each visit. They've instituted a seasonal menu, too, from which I had an excellent pork and potatoes with yellow curry. Also in evidence was a margerine-fried thin bread served with a curry, similar to a roti khanai, that I will return for.

On 5th Ave. a few blocks south of Bay Ridge Parkway, a new "gourmet bakery" is threatening to open. Please excuse my forgetting the God damn cross street. The sign says that they will be offering wholesale, which heartens me by suggesting the palce won't be the standard Smith Street yuppie Schmidt-hole.
