The most memorable aspect of the experience is the staff. This place is so tightly run: so impressive (especially after the service negative from Waterloo and City a few nights ago).
This, by no means takes away from the food. It is very refreshing to be in a place that embraces bold, well used flavors.
Hot and sour gimlet: a slow burner. Great starter drink.
This night, DH and I ordered the
-mussels (the scotch drink came about then. Held it's own against the mussel broth)
-ended with the Gruner Veltliner (went well with dessert)
The mussels were the star and I would order the extra jasmine rice to sop up the leftover sauce. Think of THE best green curry ever and you might be close.
The only complaint was from DH about the greasiness of the brussel sprouts. I didn't have too many so I didn't have the same problem.
Desserts were great and the perfect size.
Sitting at the kitchen counter was fun. The kitchen is a whirlwind of well choreographed movement.
Everyone, from the staff to the clientele just seemed happy to be there.
I can't wait to return.
