Portland 40th Bday dinner for 5 food lovers

s23 | Nov 13, 2015 01:50 PM

Hi all,
I'm planning my partner's 40th birthday dinner with myself, his brother and his parents flying up to Portland from California.
I'd love suggestions for a special, memorable dinner. Places my partner and I have liked on past special occasions are: Little Bird, Ned Ludd and Ava Gene's, but there are so many amazing places in Portland I think it'd be nice to try something new.

I'm looking for a place that isn't too loud (parents have trouble hearing) or maybe has a quiet corner. Everyone in the family is a food lover (or, shoot, just plain foodies), so we're flexible for great cooking! But perhaps not a place that's very over the top avant-garde (e.g. WD-50 style restaurant).
Dinner will be on a Wed evening, so if an average-loud restaurant comes to mind that is quieter up until a certain hour (e.g. 5-7pm) that could work too!

I did a little research and had a list of some possible places, but open to any recommendations from locals. Would you all recommend or not-recommend any of these for this sort of outing?

Davenport
Castagna
Nostrana
Accanto (now that Genoa is closed?)
St. Jack
Roe

Thank you all in advance!
Mil gracias!
