Pork bun/dumpling hybrid

About 10 years ago there was a street vendor on Canal and Mulberry who sold a steamed pork dumpling that was the size of a pork bun, and was some kind of weird bun/dumpling hybrid. Not sweet like roast pork bun, but ginger/scalliony. It fucking rocked. Does anyone know what this thing is called , and is there somewhere to find it in the city?
