There was a post a while back that had started on Georgian food, but moved on to pomegranate wine, and if it could be found in NYC.
Well, Grand Liquors, the amazing shop outside of the 30th Ave. stop on the N/W train in Astoria, has it. It is called Grenade, a 2002 pomegranate wine from the "Ijevan Wine Factorty" in Armenia. It costs $12.99 a bottle, but unfortunately I will not be able to report on the taste as it's going to a Perisan friend with an Armenian girlfriend.
It's imported by "Importers Direct Wholesale Co., Inc." of Los Angeles, CA. They had several bottles in stock, and possibly more in back.
Also picked up on this trip was some retsina, Hungarian, Romanian, and Slovenian wine, some Russian balzam, and several French wines at very good prices.
