Pollo Asado on Lawrence

Last year Rob (Vital Info) posted a nice piece about a Korean chicken restaurant on Lawrence. This was a place I’d long been curious about but never got around to trying. I always liked the pair of semi-abstract neon chickens in the windows and was pleased to hear that the food was good.

So I finally got around to going only to find it has closed. The Korean lettering has been stripped from the windows and there is a large new sign: Pollo Asado // Mexican Grilled Chicken. Happily the neon chickens are still in the windows, steaming away. The new place hasn’t opened yet and it doesn’t look like it will in the immediate future.

Oddly, the phone number on the brand new Mexican sign is the same as for the old Korean restaurant. Sounds like it may be the same owners changing their business as the neighborhood changes from Korean to Mexican. Anyone know the story?

WAS: Country Co-Co
NOW: Pollo Asado // Mexican Grilled Chicken
