Podhalanka Scores Again

JimInLoganSquare | May 2, 2004 09:09 PM

Based on the good experience during the Mil-Walk-Ee on April 18, Mrs. JimInLoganSquare and I had Saturday breakfast at the fabulous Podhalanka. Same server, same kitschy, sparse decor, and same great food. Enjoyed good eggs, the great fried Polish sausage, the addictively crisp and oniony potato pancakes. The coffee at Podhalanka is also really remarkable; nothing special, except they just keep it fresh and hot and they make it strong enough, which is more than many places charging much more can handle. The whole deal: 12 bucks. Woulda been twice that many other places. I guess what I like about Podhalanka is the prices are on line with a completely generic greasy spoon, but the food is in a different category altogether, prepared with care and even some style (the way they slice the sausage, for example). By the way, the server recalled our group fondly.
