Another pleasant pizza datapoint: Little Joe's

Ellie | Feb 5, 200601:04 AM     8

For those SF'ers on the pizza trail, I am happy to report repeated satisfying slices at a resolutely old-school Excelsior joint, Little Joe's in the 5000 block of Mission. The tangy, savory sauce had an almost meaty undertone, lightened with peppery flashes; the thin yet supple crust folded without cracking for a comfortable eat-out-of-hand experience; the cheese was as it should be. Having needed two handfuls of paper napkins to sop up the oil slick on my last Arinell's slice, it felt downright virtuous to eat something less...lubricated. There is a well-kept dining room in back with comfy booths for the eat-in family crowd. Unclear whether this is related to the other "--Joe's", but a good, honest pizza parlor nonetheless.
