I know this is way in advance, but I'm anxious to figure out a plan! My fiance and I are eloping to British Columbia in late August. We then are having a wedding "reception" a couple of weeks after we get back on Oct. 1. I say "reception" because it will be really casual, small, and we're not asking for presents, etc. We're pretty much not doing anything traditional in the whole process! We're trying to decide what kind of food we want to do at the party, and we're doing it all ourselves, with some help from family members and friends. The possibilities thus far are:
- just plain old grilling kind of food, burgers, chicken, etc. This doesn't really excite me, but might be the easiest.
- a regional Canadian dinner... I really like this idea, but I can't think of anything that would be inexpensive enough to serve to around 80 people. Does anyone have any ideas for this? I would really love to do this! My fiance is counting on me catching a bunch of salmon and shipping it back, but I think he's a little delusional on my fishing abilities! ;-)
- a Dessert party... this is really one of my favorite ideas too. I think it could be a lot of fun, probably inexpensive, and we could have cheese plates and fruit for any diabetics. I think some people may not like this as well, but I personally think it could be a lot of fun. And it definitely says "me!"
So, it's an ever-evolving process, but I would like to have your input on everything, especially if you have ideas for the Canada dinner! Thanks everyone!
