We will be going to Tuscany in mid-March (3 days in Florence and 5 with a car based at a villa in Figline, 20 mi south of Florence). I have extracted relevant restaurant commentary from past posts but would much appreciate any suggestions for day-trip Tuscany itineraries for our five days with a car. Guidebooks tend to contain an overabundance of places and don't offer much help in assessing driving times, convenient or scenic routes, etc. Obviously we'll want to visit some of the major towns (Siena, Pisa, etc.) but suggestions of where to stop en-route and other off-the-beaten track destinations would be most helpful. We're not big museum hounds, tending to be more interested in good food and just wandering around in palces of beauty (landscape/architecture). Thanks!
