I don't know if anyone else saw Kliman's column in this week's CP, it's a really entertaining read about an older gentleman who eats at the same restaurant (Marcel's) every night. He's apparently been going since the first day they opened. The restaurant even picks him up and takes him home. The chef estimates that he spent something like $60,000 last year. And here I thought I ate out a lot! But this just about blew my mind.
Anyway, it got me thinking. Most of us on here eat out quite a bit (about four times a week in my case, give or take). And I know the purpose of this board is to have a place to come and celebrate or gripe about the newest places or discoveries, but we've all got a place or places that we keep going back to for whatever reason, right? Maybe not EVERY night, but often enough that we could be counted as regulars there. What are they and why? I think it'd be interesting to come up with a list.
For me -- just to get the ball rolling -- it's two places: Johnny's Half Shell, for the atmosphere at the bar, the gumbo and the oysters (I'm originally from New Orleans). I'm there usually once a week. The other is Firefly, again once a week. Love the wine flights and the apps.
Oh, and Stoney's before they closed. Sad, sad day.
