Two or three months ago, I heard about a new pizza place (not yet open at the time)in downtown Campbell.
(Moderators - Campbell is a small city of about 40,000
people located next to and basically surrounded by San Jose, so I think I'm posting in the right place) I hadn't heard anything more about it. I had walked past the property many times.
This place has now opened. It's located on Campbell between Bloom's and the old Tanin (now closed but to be replaced soon by a new wine shop by some people from Willow Glen - I think - I'm fairly new here and my geography may be a bit off). Pretty much across the street from Mia Vicino.
This place is owned by whoever owns A Bellagio a block (or so) south. It is just west (about 1/2 block) of the light rail tracks on the north side of the street (apologies to those who didn't bring a compass).
It (I actually don't know the name - I think the awning says "Pizzeria") opened about 10 days ago.
I happened to walk by on opening day, stopped in to look at a menu and came back later in the evening. I'd say the prices were moderate ($10 to $12) for about a 10" pizza. The pie was irregularly shaped with a thin, almost cracker type crust with a nice char. It was not particularly yeasty tasting and was lightly sauced. Some of the ingredients tended to wilt the crust once you got past the edge. I would have liked to have a small green salad, but I don't recall that a salad was available. They serve wine and beer.
The decor is "upscale" but not lavish with mostly hard surfaces. While I was there, someone turned up the music really high, which I did not appreciate, and the hard surfaces just reenforced the loudness. Service was friendly but awkward. So, I guess it's just the ususal opening issues. There is a small sidewalk seating area.
I think this place is a nice addition to this little city and I wish them well. I will go back.
