Pizza in Cedar Rapids

A few months ago there were some raves posted for Pagliai's Pizza in Iowa City. It had been several years since I tested Pagliai's, so I let them go.

My wife and I were in Iowa City Sunday evening, and decided to go back to Pagliai's to see if it measures up to Cedar Rapids. Contrary to the comments about "best pizza between the East and West Coasts," Pagliai's rates a distant 4th in area pizza in our opinion: good, but not great. The 3 best are still in Cedar Rapids: Tomaso's (get the mombo combo with the Detroit crust)for a dish-like crust, Zooey's for a New York style, and Naso's for a thin crust that doesn't taste floury. Zooey's will do pizza by the slice for lunch only.

Seldom any waiting at Naso's, which also has the best salads and a good beer selection. Arrive early or be prepared to wait up to an hour at Zooey's (salad, but the dressing is packaged; good beer selection) and Tomaso's (no salad, minimal beer).
