Pizza Antica in Lafayette

jbgreen | Jun 2, 2005 04:30 AM

I had dinner with the parents at Pizza Antica in Lafayette for the first time tonight. Although the food was great, I was quite disappointed by the service. Anyone else have this experience there?

-Wednesday night, so I figured there wasn't a need for reservations. Wrong. We waited almost an hour for a table. I know this isn't their fault, but I asked the hostess numerous times how long it would take and I every time I recieved, "Just a sec."

-After we're finally seated, we ask for water and bread. 10 minutes go by before they bring some empty glasses. Another 10 minutes for the actual water. No ice, so another 10 minutes. And so on, as was the entire meal. They mixed up an order as well and brought out a pasta dish instead of pizza.

-It was my dad's birthday so we asked if they do anything for birthdays, ie. free dessert or anything? I know a lot of places don't do this, but many do, so we asked. Got back a very curt NO.

-Asked the waiter to turn on the heat lamp and did so very reluctantly, rolling his eyes at the waitress who helped him.

-My mom paid the bill via credit card. The waiter went off to run the card, then came back a few minutes later with the bill and card in hand, and asked if she was sure if this was her card. "Her name doesn't fit her face." (She is Asian American, but thanks to my dad, she has a Euro/American last name.) I found this somewhat insulting!

I did really enjoy their thin crust pizza and my mom loved the herbed chicken entree, so I am sad to say I don't think we'll be back.
