I recently moved from Boston to Los Angeles and have had a lot of culinary adventures over the past three months. I was excited to find chowhound.com as I was starting to miss The Phantom Gourmet.
I have never seen so many fast food / quick food joints and was determined not to go to any of them. How could anyone enjoy eating something that needs either ketchup or guacamole spread all over it in order to have any flavor? What happened to long leisurely dinners with all the pampering a person could want? Why would any designer put such bright lights to illuminate the crusty ketchup dispenser or salsa that has bits of tortilla chips in it?
I finally broke down. My boyfriend and I were exploring North Hollywood when I just couldnt take the grumbling in my stomach any longer. We found a place on the corner of Magnolia and Lankershim that had a parking space almost waiting for us and a fabulous patio. I didnt realize that this was a quick service joint until I saw how everyone was ordering. The décor was great and the lighting was perfect with an open view into the kitchen. I was so intrigued by this mix that I just had to try it.
This past Saturday afternoon I found a gem. Pitfire Pizza has the best pizza crust I have ever had and a chicken soup that is more than for the soul. Everything they make is from the purest natural ingredients and is made by them. They were also featuring heirloom tomatoes that were unbelievable on the pizza. The food arrived quickly but with a taste that makes you feel as if it was prepared just for you. They also have a variety of pastas and paninis that I must go back to try.
Has anyone else found this place?
