Asking For Piping Tips Because I Suck At It.

monavano | Mar 16, 201510:15 AM     11

OK, so yesterday, DH and I made Guinness chocolate cupcakes with green-colored icing, topped with a Girl Scout Thin Mint.
I used a Betty Crocker recipe and took the shortcut of using a BC triple fudge cake mix (don't judge!), and used the beer in place of water.
They turned out brilliantly.
The icing was shortening, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla (and a little cream to smooth it out).
I piped the icing on using a bag and fluted tip, and well, it looked like a first-graders art project.
As I went along, icing the 24 cupcakes, I thought at some point, I'm going to get the hand of this, and it'll look like the picture!
Never. Happened.

So, do you have any tips for me? Any type of icing pipe better than others? Any tutorials that helped you?
I don't want to give up!
Thanks!
