Piperade questions

Reese in Rockridge | Dec 20, 200412:43 PM

I am about to try for a reservation at Piperade, this Wednesday, for my BF's birthday. After combing this board, and all other sources I could get my hands on, I think it's the right choice. He has an endless appetite, and we're looking for something nice but not too nice. We've never had Basque food, but it sounds good!

I have a few questions and was hoping folks might have advice. Thanks in advance!

I'm definitely going to lobby for the sheep's milk and ham terrine and I think he'll gravitate toward the walnut gratin for dessert. Are there any other dishes or types of dishes people have enjoyed lately? He really enjoys duck and lamb.

My other question regards atmosphere -- it's his birthday, so festive, with a little "buzz" would be nice, but with just two of us, rowdy could be overwhelming. The pictures of the dining room look terrific, but has anyone ever eaten on the patio? The website says it's open year-round. I'm leaning towards indoors, but would be interested in feedback.

I promise I'll report back!
