Pink Princess Cake @ Vienna Bakery, Fremont

Melanie Wong | Dec 30, 2005 01:16 AM

Vienna Bakery is located in the same strip mall as BevMo and Dana Bazar. It has a couple tables outside and more cafe seating inside. One wedding party to be was in the corner consulting on cake options.

I was just there to browse, but then the familiar green of princess cake caught my eye. Even better, the case held slices of both pink and green enrobed princess cake. The counter gal said that the green and pink were identical except for the color.

I bought a slice to try. The white cake was very light and fine-grained, yet didn't have much flavor of its own. Neither did the raspberry filling. I would have liked more whipped cream and less cake. The marzipan was very good and seemed to be thicker than others. What I didn't like is that it was glued onto the cake with a layer of salty and stiff buttercream-like frosting that detracted from the other flavors.

Not the worst princess cake I've tried, but far from the best.
